His early career with Malaysian International Shipping Corporation (MISC) saw him navigating international waters aboard container vessels, bulk carriers, and tankers over a 13-year tenure. Transitioning from ship to shore, Capt. Hafidzi built an impressive legacy at Penang Port Sdn. Bhd., where he served as a licensed marine pilot for seven years and later advanced into terminal leadership roles. As General Manager of Container Business, he played a key role in transforming work culture following corporatization, driving improvements in terminal operations, engineering, commercial performance, and HSSE compliance.

At Sabah Ports Sdn. Bhd., Capt. Hafidzi served as General Manager of Operations, managing eight ports across Sabah that handled multi-cargo, container, and liquid bulk terminals. He led major initiatives including the establishment of a new Marine Unit and Commercial Department, and strengthened port productivity, maintenance programs, and support divisions such as the Port Auxiliary Police and HSSE.

Renowned for his operational acumen, strategic foresight, and dynamic leadership, Captain Hafidzi is a catalyst for performance excellence and institutional growth. Deeply committed to Sabah’s maritime development, he actively mentors young Sabahan talents, nurturing the next generation of leaders in Borneo’s maritime and shipping sectors.

Captain Hafidizi has been appointed as a key consultant for the opening of the Sawit Kinabalu Jetty, providing comprehensive guidance to ensure a smooth and efficient launch. His consultancy covers the entire operational framework, beginning with the establishment of the LLP and the creation of a detailed port development master plan. To streamline day-to-day operations, he is overseeing the implementation of a new terminal operating system and an integrated management system. A critical part of his role is also focused on risk and safety, which includes developing a robust emergency response plan and conducting thorough HSSE training for all personnel. Furthermore, to build a skilled and knowledgeable team, Captain Hafidizi is facilitating extensive staff training and exposure, including specialized cargo conveyor maintenance training, ensuring the port is fully equipped and prepared for its future operations.
